Gary L. Francione has launched a virtual billboard campaign:

‘Dear Colleagues:

In 1969, at the height of the Vietnam War, John Lennon and Yoko Ono had a billboard placed in Times Square. It read:

“WAR IS OVER!

If you want it

Happy Christmas from John and Yoko.”

I propose the following:

That we flood the world with a message; that we create a virtual billboard:

THE WORLD IS VEGAN! If you want it.’¹

I encourage everyone, especially those who visit Eat Raw Vegan and have yet to go vegan, to listen to Francione’s latest audio commentary on “The WORLD IS VEGAN! If you want it” campaign. In many ways, this is Francione’s most powerful commentary to date. The message is clear: THE WORLD IS VEGAN! If you want it.

Among the places the virtual billboard campaign has already taken root is Facebook. It’ll be interesting to see how this campaign plays out. For some reason my gut feeling tells me that I’ll be reading about this campaign many years from now as an important historical event in the creation of a more just and healthy world — one where the abolition of animal exploitation is well on it’s way to being fully achieved.

As a side note, Francione introduces his audio commentary by discussing a dog he recently adopted from an animal shelter. He goes on to talk about how in his experience, quality vegan dog food has clearly helped the dogs he adopted live longer healthier lives.
